About Us

The Eliza Lucas Pinckney Chapter, NSDAR, is one of the newest chapters in South Carolina and was organized October 8, 2005.

About Eliza Lucas Pinckney

Who We Are

The women of this chapter are warm, friendly, and interesting. Some of us work full-time, some of us are raising families, and some of us do both. But we still find time to be involved with the DAR.

With that said, we realize that membership in DAR often has a life cycle. Throughout life competing priorities may limit a member’s involvement for periods of time. We encourage our members to stay connected to our chapter during these times and then come back as time allows – and of course always enjoy the friendships you make along the way.

When We Meet

Our chapter meets on the second Sunday of each month. All meetings begin at 2:00 p.m. with social time. Business meetings begin at 2:30 p.m. You can find a complete list of our upcoming meetings and other events on our Meetings page.

What We Do

Our members are interested in a variety of activities and joined our chapter and the DAR for many different reasons. As a result, our chapter is involved with numerous interesting, important projects. Some of these involve outreach and awareness programs for our local community members. Our current focus is on the restoration of Eliza Lucas Pinckney’s dress, which is owned by the Charleston Museum.

In addition, we work closely with veterans and our active duty military. We are compiling a book for our chapter, which will include family histories, so many of our family memories are not lost. There are opportunities to get involved with activities at the state level. There’s something for everyone.
